Nice insights! Although I'm an old school dreamer. I've read the books of castaneda. Learned the skills without taking any pills. I personally think that it's much better to do without them because you can get depended on them. I've also learned from experience that if you any form of martial art or qigong, tai chi, aikido, tensegrity you'll have more energy to use at night!

Also in reguards to the music comment I use to listen to trance at night while I slept at a very low volume, usually the subgenre of 'dream trance' which is this sugary kiddy type stuff. Very fluffy artists like robert miles produced alot of this stuff in the mid 90's. Any ways I noticed when I listened to trance while I slept I would have alot more epic dreams, not lucid per say just long and memorable.

You missed one there is also a dream herb called
Calea Zacatechichi which is widely known for its ability to induce lucid dreaming in a statistically large percentage of users. Search it or dream herb on google and you'll find lots of websites selling the herb and talking about its properties.

Amic,

Yes, nicotine patches are used by some for the sole intention of improving dream vividness. The Thomas Yuschak book linked above goes into more detail. I have not tried the method before, however.

Gippy,

I've had some very vivid dreams before while music was playing (usually when I take a nap to music). It's an interesting effect that I may write about later but I imagine the "methods" and overall experience tend to be very subjective.

I heard of a way to use music to enhance dreams (No drugs or lack of sleep involved to my knowledge). I was wondering if there are any you know of specifically?

Bud tends to decrease my ability to dream recall substantially, it wasn't until about 4 months that I began thinking I had destroyed a part of my brain (I tend to smoke all day...every day...) upon thinking about this I began dreaming again, but not as vivid as I had been used to in my pre-pot days.

A nicotine patch is another thing that I hear is the greatest potentiator for vivid dreaming (nicotine has a similar molecular structure acetylcholine...I think) I plan on trying again tomorrow, for yesterday I put a 21 mg patch on my arm 3 hours before I planned to sleep, I ended up sweating like a recovering heroin addict and threw up after I had the patch on for 2 hours...don't underestimate the patch, the ego learns hard.

I took 150mg of Holland & Barrett 5-HTP last night and I had a lucid dream (not very common for me). For the first time, I was flying! Just for a few seconds, and I somehow lost the visuals soon but it worked. Now the funny part is, that during morning reflection I realized, that I was probably flying in a dream within a dream. What can I say, I am looking forward to today's night :)
